Vidalia tops Natchez; AC wins

VIDALIA, La. &045; It was an historic Tuesday afternoon at the Vidalia softball field as Natchez High and Vidalia took on each other in fast-pitch softball for the first time.
And the Lady Vikings redeemed themselves after being no-hit by St. Aloysius pitcher Laura Beth Lyons at the Warren Central Tournament last Saturday by taking a 7-0 win over the Lady Bulldogs.
&uot;We’re going to try to continue to play them,&uot; Lady Vikings head coach Gary Paul Parnham said. &uot;The team that I saw out there is not a bad team.&uot;
Christy Corley struck out 11 batters and held the Lady Bulldogs (2-6) to just five hits to pick up the complete-game win.
Honda Griffin did admirable in the loss as she held Vidalia (9-7-2) to just six hits, but the defense let her down by committing three costly errors.
ACCS 17, Huntington 0
NATCHEZ &045; Madelyn Lewis held Huntington (1-3) to just two hits and the defense did much better in committing one error.
Brittany Gamberi belted a home run and Katie Ann Swinny led the Lady Rebels at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple. Krystal Truitt also had a triple.
AC blew the game wide open by scoring 10 runs in the second.
