VILLE PLATTE, La. &045; If it’s all right with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, Vidalia head coach Gary Paul Parnham would like never to return to this small Cajun town ever again.
Heck, if he could talk the folks at the Department of Transportation and Development into it, he’d prefer them build a special Gary Paul Parnham bypass around the town just so he doesn’t have to go anywhere near it.
For the second time in three years, Vidalia’s softball team entered the regional round against the Lady Trojans. And for the second time in three years, the Lady Vikings left Acadiana with a1-0 defeat.
Just like 2002, this one was a pitcher’s duel between both staff’s aces. Vidalia’s Christy Corley struck out five batters, and the run she gave up in the seventh was unearned.
&uot;We couldn’t get a runner on until there was two outs,&uot; Parnham said. &uot; We couldn’t get the hit to move runners around. Basically it came down to who was going to make a mistake first.&uot;
The defending Class 2A champs mustered two hits against Sacred Heart starter Ashley LaFleur, finishing the season 16-11-2 after going winless in its first five games.
