Amite court accepts six guilty pleas

LIBERTY &045;&045; Sixth Circuit Court Judge Forrest A. Johnson accepted guilty pleas from six criminal defendants Tuesday in Amite County Circuit Court, according to information provided by the circuit clerk’s office.
A synopsis of the court’s action:
Harold Wright pleaded guilty to introduction and possession of controlled substances in a county jail.
Wright was sentenced to three years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections and ordered to pay court costs.
Juan Levy pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm on educational property. Levy was sentenced to three years in the MDOC and ordered to pay court costs.
The court further ordered Levy be placed in the Regimented Inmate Disciplinary program.
Thomas James Cooper pleaded
guilty to burglary of a dwelling house. Cooper was sentenced to ten years in the MDOC.
The court further ordered after serving three years the balance of seven years will be suspended, and Cooper will be placed on probation for five years.
Cooper was also ordered to pay restitution and court costs.
Stephan Paul Barron pleaded guilty to third offense DUI. Barron was sentenced to three years in the MDOC, fined $2,000 and ordered to pay court costs. The court also found that Barron was a proper subject for the house arrest program.
Donna Y. Garner pleaded guilty to uttering a forgery. Garner was sentenced to one year in the Amite County Jail.
The court also ordered after serving six months the balance of six months will be suspended, and Garner will be placed on non-reporting probation for three years.
Garner was also ordered to pay court costs.
Pushmataha Bell pleaded guilty to possession of a deadly weapon by a convicted felon and burglary of a storehouse.
Bell was sentenced to three years in the MDOC on the weapon charge and a consecutive seven years in the MDOC on the burglary charge. Bell was also ordered to pay court costs.
