During the meeting, McGlothin thanked city officials and the community for their support during his term. McGlothin also wished luck to the new administration.

&uot;I wanted to tell everyone I enjoyed it,&uot; McGlothin said.

&uot;It’s not an easy job to do.&uot;

During the meeting, city officials approved the new budget for the year ended June 30. McGlothin noted that this was a non-binding budget that could be amended by the new administration. There were no changes made to the new budget.

&uot;By law we have to adopt a budget,&uot; McGlothin said during the meeting. &uot;We’ve kept it at the same rate.&uot;

The officials also approved a motion to solicit input regarding $150,000 of certificate of indebtedness. McGlothin indicated that the money was necessary to pay off bills that had been incurred by the city.

&uot;The water plant is killing us,&uot; McGlothin said.

Ashmore also said the water plant was a drain on Ferriday and hoped that the new administration could take the next step to resolve the issue.

&uot;We spend so much money to clean surface water,&uot; Ashmore said. &uot;This administration has realized that and I hope that the next administration realizes it.&uot;

In other business, the board approved occupational licenses for the following businesses: China Wok, Fashion Nails, Trak Food Store and Layne Contracting Services.

They did not vote, however, on the license for Ferriday Elderly because of confusion regarding the address. The board also approved an alcoholic beverage permit for Trak Food Store.

The new administration will take office on July 1.
