Hubert Lee McGlothin remembered for devotion

Former Ferriday Mayor and Concordia Parish Sheriff Hubert Lee McGlothin died Sunday. Funeral services are today at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Gray officiating.
McGlothin, 63, was well know in the parish for his devotion to his hometown according to his friends and characterized by many as an easygoing man with a sense of humor.
Gene Brakenridge, president of Brakenridge Furniture, said he knew McGlothin all his life and saw him as a man of the people.
&uot;He was raised right down the street from me,&uot; Brakenridge said.
McGlothin devoted his life to Ferriday and was well liked by many in the community Brakenridge said.
&uot;I think there will be a lot of people at his funeral,&uot; Brakenridge said.
Reverend Wayne Gray said had known McGlothin for about four years and considered him a friend and fun loving man with a sense of humor who was involved in his family, church and community.
Gray also said McGlothin was his barber. Gray joked about when he would come into the barber shop and McGlothin would let everyone know that the reverend was coming in. Gray said McGlothin would say &uot;Hey rev!&uot; loudly and tell everyone &uot;Heads up, here comes the preacher, watch what you say.&uot;
