Those who didn’t give their best performance or felt slighted by the judges at last month’s Natchez Idol now have a second chance to win an all expense paid trip to the &uot;American Idol&uot; auditions to be held in New Orleans.

Cenla Idol 4 will be in Alexandria this Saturday looking for another winner.

The central Louisiana competition will be at the Alexandria Mall. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon.

The contest begins at 11 a.m. with contestants singing one verse and one chorus a cappella to a panel of judges.

The competition is open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 28 who lives in the FOX 48 or Q-93 viewing and listening area.

The judges will select 25 contestants to move on to the radio round. July 26-30 the Top 25 will sing a cappella over the radio on Q-93. Telephone calls to judges will be considered before a Top 10 is named.

A wild card round will be held on Aug. 2.

The third place finishers from each day’s radio competition will compete for the last open spot in the finale.

Eleven finalists will compete in the finale on Aug. 7. Judges will narrow the field to three. Audience applause will determine the winner that night.

Judges include radio personality &uot;Hollywood&uot; Harrison, Remedy Intelligence Staffing Sales Coordinator Greta Mathews, local recording artist Dezmond Meeks, Executive Assistant at Hixson Autoplex Christine Mercer and piano teacher Melody Slocum.

The event is open to the public and audience participation is invited.

Alexandria resident Deidra Allen won the Natchez Idol competition on June 26. She will receive free travel and accommodations to the New Orleans try-outs.

The winner of the Cenla Idol will receive a guaranteed audition in front of &uot;American Idol&uot; show producers plus accommodations and travel.
