MADISON &045; With several key players out with various injuries and head coach Ken Beesley Sr. having to put in some young players, it was going to be a long game for the Cathedral Green Wave against the Madison St. Joseph Bruins.

The weather made things even worse as the Green Wave committed seven turnovers and were held to just 110 yards of total offense while Madison St. Joseph quarterback Joseph Shirley had more than that by himself as the Bruins rolled to a 31-0 win over the Green Wave Friday night.

&uot;We had too many turnovers in the first half,&uot; Cathedral head coach Ken Beesley Sr. said. &uot;We just put ourselves in a hole. The defense didn’t play that bad. I don’t think they had a drive over 30 yards for a touchdown. We didn’t do much on offense. We just had a bad night.&uot;

Shirley racked up 153 combined yards, threw for one touchdown and ran for another as the Green Wave defense had little answers for the Bruins offense.

Jefferson County 20, Yazoo City 7

YAZOO CITY &045; After struggling to get anything going in the first half, the Tigers got its offense going in the third quarter, getting two touchdowns from Ernest Havard to break a scoreless tie and help give the visitors a key road win Friday night.

Havard scored on a 17-yard run with 10:06 to go in the third quarter and on a 4-yard run with 6:35 to go in that same quarter and scored on a two-point conversion run to give Jefferson County (2-0) a 14-0 lead.

&uot;We basically went in at halftime and made the proper adjustments,&uot; Tigers head coach Jeffery Harness said.

Block 18, Vidalia 0

JONESVILLE, La. &045; Just like at the Vidalia Jamboree a week ago, the Vikings’ offense had problems moving the ball. But on Friday night, Vidalia’s defense could not stop the Bears’ potent running attack, led by Johnny Lee.

Block, ranked No. 5 in Class 1A, ran the ball at will on Vidalia’s defense until it was stopped &045; and it wasn’t as the Bears racked up 308 total rushing yards.

Wilkinson County 46, PC Central 6

WOODVILLE &045; The Wildcats scored early and often in the first half thanks to a good mix of the run and the pass en route to a 40-point rout of the hapless Cougars Friday night.

Wilkinson County (2-0) got a pair of short touchdown runs from Alvin Fosselman as well as 45-yard touchdown run from LaKendrick Russ.
