MAGNOLIA &045; Natchez took a step back in its second game of the season, falling 54-18 to South Pike in a game more noteworthy for its penalties and sloppy execution than anything else.
The Bulldogs had 19 penalties for 173 yards and South Pike had 16 for 155 yards in the game.
Natchez sophomore Jason Bruce handled the majority of the quarterbacking duties for the Bulldogs as senior Riley Trask played primarily on the defensive side of the ball. Bruce ran a hurry-up offense for most of the game as the Bulldogs desperately tried to catch up.
South Pike held a 27-0 halftime lead and was up 41-0 before the Bulldogs scored on a 20-yard Bruce run.
