Hounds claim win over Franklin; Tigers roll past Columbia, 35-14

WINNSBORO, La. &045; Huntington scored the first three touchdowns and then held on for a 28-15 victory over Franklin Academy.
Both teams are 2-2 this season.
Huntington quarterback Mike Ferguson threw two touchdown passes in the first half as the Hounds went out to a 22-8 halftime advantage. The Huntington defense held strong, allowing only one Franklin score in the second half.
&uot;Defensively, we played great,&uot; Huntington head coach Bo Swilley said. &uot;Offensively, we played better than we had. We tried some different things. It was a good effort.&uot;
Centreville 35, Columbia 14
CENTREVILLE &045; For the fourth consecutive game, the Centreville Tigers won, defeating Columbia.
The Tigers racked up more than 300 yards on the ground, moving the ball at will against a porous Cougar defense. Blake Devall had 224 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. The Tiger defense held strong, allowing only two touchdowns, one of which came late after the game was already out of reach.
Tensas 21, Briarfield 15
ST. JOSEPH, La. &045; Tensas improved to 3-1 on the season with a 21-15 win over Briarfield.
The Chiefs went down early when Briarfield’s Jamie Fortenberry scampered into the end zone, giving the Rebels a 7-0 lead.
But from there, Tensas was dominant, scoring the next 21 points and slowing the
Rebel offense. Quarterback Tyler White had a big night, scoring one touchdown and passing for another.
Riverfield 33, WCCA 7
RAYVILLE, La. &045; Riverfield didn’t waste any time scoring as Carson Thompson took the opening kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown, giving the Raiders a lead they wouldn’t surrender on the way to a 33-7 win over Wilkinson County Christian Academy.
