FERRIDAY, La. &045; The Trojans scored the first touchdown of the game. Unfortunately, they didn’t score again until the fourth quarter.
Ferriday lost 38-21 to Peabody Friday, dropping the Trojans to 1-3 on the season.
As has often been the case for Ferriday this season, the Trojans moved the ball well but simply couldn’t translate that production into points. Ferriday turned the ball over five times in the game and recovered five more fumbles, as quarterback Scotty Cage had considerable trouble with the exchange from center, fumbling the ball five times on the snap.
Those turnovers put the Ferriday defense at a definite disadvantage, frequently working against a short field. Peabody didn’t have to slug out long drives, they spent most of their time deep in Trojan territory.
Block 34, Caldwell 14
COLUMBIA, La. &045; For the second straight week, Class 1A’s eightth-ranked Block Bears ran right through a Class 3A opponent en route to a win. One week ago it was the Jena Giants. This Friday night it was the Caldwell who could not stop the Bears.
Behind another strong performance from junior running back Johnny Lee and senior running back Michael Griffin, Block overcame a shaky performance by its defense, especially in the second quarter, to defeat Caldwell Parish 34-14.
Thanks to a solid offensive line that has opened up holes for Block’s running game, the duo of Lee and Griffin combined for 376 rushing yards, all five touchdowns and two two-point conversions.
Lee scored on a 20-yard run with 10:40 to go in the first quarter to give Block (3-1) an early 6-0 lead.
But the Spartans took a 7-6 lead midway through the second quarter on Walter Fegans’ 26-yard run.
Griffin’s 11-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion run gave the Bears a 14-0 lead, only to see the Spartans answer with a 70-yard touchdown pass from Fegans to Holloway with 3:53 to go in the second quarter.

Rayville 34, Vidalia 0
VIDALIA &045; The Hornets got revenge with a 34-0 victory over the Vikings to keep their undefeated record.
Rayville got the party started with a touchdown run in the second, then scored again minutes later on a fumble return. At halftime, the Hornets had a 20-0 lead and had the game all but won.
But it was the Hornet defense that really won the game. Vidalia had just three total yards in the game and minus&045;2 yards rushing the ball. The Vikings also turned the ball over eight times in the game as just about everything seemed to go wrong.
Richard Murphy scored four touchdowns for the Hornets, who are 4-0 on the season.
