Third-graders at Morgantown Elementary had a new incentive to learn their spelling words Friday.

The gift of bright yellow, brand new dictionaries that were theirs to keep made school work a little more fun for at least a few minutes.

Members of the Rotary Club visited the school Friday morning to distribute the dictionaries, a service project of the club’s.

In each classroom the Rotary representatives went over the Rotary Four-Way Test with the students. The test includes four questions the club members use when making decisions. The questions include: is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build good will and better friendships and will it be beneficial to all concerned.

This is the second year for Rotary Club’s dictionary project, member Chuck Caldwell said.

&uot;It seemed like a great idea,&uot; he said. &uot;My wife teaches and I’ve heard all her stories, so I thought this would be a good way to help out.&uot;

The Rotary Club also delivered dictionaries to third graders at Adams County Christian School, Trinity Episcopal, Cathedral School and McLaurin Elementary earlier this week.

Caldwell said the club plans to continue the project in the future.
