WOODVILLE &045; The opening kickoff may have been an omen, and things sure went from bad to worse in a hurry for WCCA.

The Rams fumbled the opening kickoff Friday night against Adams Christian, and the Rebels took full advantage and used the short field to score a touchdown. The Rebels held steady after that, claiming a 27-7 win over the Rams Friday night.

Simon Sullivan recovered the fumble for the Rebels, who went four plays from the WCCA 28 to punch it in when Lee Dellinger scored from 6 yards out. The Rams were held to a punt on their first drive, and the Rebels answered again to take control of the game early.

The Rebels took over at their own 43 and needed eight plays to drive 57 yards for the score. Timmy Foster hit Eric Perry on a 30-yard pass on the drive, and Dellinger finished it up with a 4-yard run for a touchdowns for a 14-0 lead with 4:13 left in the first.

The Rams got a break in the second quarter when Ruston Cado recovered a fumble at their own 37 but were unable to capitalize.

The Rebels didn’t score again until the fourth quarter when Joey Wilson broke a 13-yard run for a touchdown. Wilkinson answered immediately when Collin Dor returned the kick 55 yards for a touchdown to trim the lead to 20-7 with 11:08 left in the fourth.

Dellinger had a breakout game running the ball with 110 yards on 22 carries.

Tensas 36, Tallulah 12

ST. JOSEPH, La. &045; With second place and a good shot at the Class A playoffs on the line in this important District 7-A game, the Tensas Chiefs made sure they weren’t going to let an opportunity like that slip away, especially with this also being Tensas’ homecoming game.

Tensas broke open a close game by scoring 30 straight points, including 23 in the second quarter, and got big-time performances from several players on both sides of theball in a 36-12 win over the Tallulah Academy Trojans Friday night.

&uot;We got after them. We played probably our best first half of the season,&uot; Tensas head coach Chris Jacobs said. &uot;We ran it down their throats. The kids did a good job of executing in a big game.&uot;

Tyler White, Will Ratcliff, Thomas Crigler and Cody Hill led the charge for Tensas (5-3, 3-1).

White had 164 yards of total offense and had three touchdown runs a two-point conversion and intercepted Tallulah quarterback Matt Roberson twice. Ratcliff led Tensas in rushing and had eight tackles.

Centreville 40, Amite 0

CENTREVILLE &045; Having a short field several times in the first half was the only thing that could slow down Blake Devall in this non-district matchup Friday night.

For the first time in quite some time, someone not named Blake Devall led Centreville in rushing. Jon Lathan had 10 carries for 84 yards and one touchdown. Five different players scored rushing touchdowns for the Tigers (7-1).

However, Centreville’s first touchdown was an 8-yard pass from Jennings Field to Blake Crawford.

Huntington 26, Riverdale 6

COUSHATTA, La. &045; Hunter Norwood scored two touchdowns and Mike Ferguson had a touchdown as the Hounds put up over 300 yards total offense while their defense had one of their best games all season.

&uot;We played better than we have,&uot; Hounds head coach Bo Swilley said. &uot;Tonight we made a few mistakes, but we got better. The defense did a good job. &uot;

Eliser also led Huntington (3-5) in rushing with 91 yards on 19 carries.

&uot;I was very proud of my coaches and our kids,&uot; Swilley said. &uot;They did a good job.&uot;
