FERRIDAY &045; The Ferriday Town Council passed a motion to raise $10,000 to supplement a USDA grant toward the purchase of six police cars &045; four new and two used &045; during its regular meeting Tuesday night.
Money from city bond accounts moved to general funds will most likely pay for the cars.
The council also passed a resolution to give a one-time salary supplement of $240 to employees of the town of Ferriday for December.
An ordinance was passed for the 1-cent sales tax that passed in the Nov 2 election, to be adopted Dec 14.
Ordinances for the granting of an occupational license for Payoff Brother’s Inc and renewals for six alcohol beverage permits were also passed.
Other business at the meeting included allowing Nexus Systems Inc. to pay $150 a month to place a tower on the Ferriday water tower and to give LCC a contract to replace three water tower valves at a cost to the city not to exceed $5,000.
Water to the city may have to be shut off for a few hours when the values are replaced. It is hoped that the replacements may improve water quality in the city.
