FERRIDAY, La. &045; The Concordia Parish Community Center on Louisiana 15 will be decking its halls from 6 to 9 p.m. this Friday for the Concordia Council on Aging 29th annual Christmas party.

The party, which will feature humorist Clyde Ray Webber as master of ceremonies, is free to the public.

There will be door prizes given, food provided by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and Christmas music performed by local entertainers.

Dorothy McDonald, executive director of the Concordia Council on Aging, said that the Christmas party is the council’s biggest event of the year and that turnout has been very good in the past.

&uot;It usually goes very well. People usually have a great time and we expect the same this year. It’s parish wide and we have about 200 folks every year,&uot; she said.

She said that every senior citizen at the party would be receiving a gift package to include fruit, cookies and candy. Those over 80 years old who attend the party will receive poinsettias as an additional gift.

The Concordia Council on Aging Christmas party is made possible by donations from various business, clubs, and individuals.

The Concordia Council on Aging is one of the 21 agencies in the Miss-Lou that receives funding from the United Way of the Greater Miss-Lou.

It serves more than 500 senior citizens in Concordia Parish by providing such things as home delivered meals, transportation, wellness programs, and medication management.

McDonald said that the annual Christmas party is one more way that the council shows appreciation to those it serves in Concordia Parish.

&uot;The senior citizens need something special and the Christmas party is pretty special,&uot; she said.
