NATCHEZ &045; Eight standout senior football players from four area schools, all of which made the playoffs, were selected to this year’s Mississippi Private School Association South All-Star Team that was announced last Saturday.

Among them are three members of the Centreville Tigers that went 12-2 and were the MPSA Class AA runners-up: running back/defensive back Blake Devall, who had more than 1,900 yards rushing, quarterback/defensive back Jennings Field, who, like his teammates, made up for a disappointing season his junior year with an impressive senior season, and linebacker/running back A.J. Dooley, one of the leaders of a defense that improved dramatically as the season progressed.

Two players from Adams County Christian School, which had its first winning regular season in 15 years and made the playoffs for the second consecutive year made the South All-Star Team: tight end Heath Williams, who ended up being the main go-to receiver for the Rebels because of injuries, and running back Dustin Case.

However, because of an injury suffered midway through the season, Case will not be able to play in this game.

Three players from two teams that played each other in the first round of the Class A playoffs, quarterback/linebacker Ruston Cado and offensive lineman/defensive lineman Clay Bryant from District 6-A champion Wilkinson County Christian Academy and quarterback Tyler White from District 7-A runner-up Tensas Academy, who threw for more than 1,000 yards, made the team.

The 2004 MPSA All-Star Game will take place on at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at Robinson-Hale Stadium at Mississippi College in Clinton.
