Adams County officers net more than $9,000 in drugs

NATCHEZ &045; About $9,088 worth of crack cocaine was seized in two traffic stops over the weekend and on Monday.
Saturday an Adams County deputy attempted to stop a car driven by Edward Thomas, 30, 27-A Graves Ave. Thomas tried to elude the officer but eventually stopped and fled the car on foot.
Metro Narcotics agents were called to the scene and recovered 40.4 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $8,080, Cmdr. Cliff Cox said.
Thomas and a 17-year-old passenger in the car, were arrested on charges of possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Thomas has been convicted on previous drug charges.
Monday, Metro Narcotics agents stopped a car on Mississippi 553 near the Adams County/Jefferson County line and found 7.4 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $1,080, marijuana and a large quantity of promethazine with codeine.
Calvin Owens, 18, 250 Wickliff Road, Carlos Owens and a juvenile were arrested on charges of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of promethazine with intent to distribute. One subject was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
