FERRIDAY &045; Bizarre was the only word for it.

Ferriday beat Vidalia 68-42 at the Ferriday Tournament in a game plagued by fouls, turnovers, sloppy play from both sides and a lack of available bodies for the Lady Vikings.

&uot;It was the most bizarre game I’ve ever seen,&uot; Ferriday head coach Lisa Abron said.

Vidalia only suited up seven players and had one player leave in the third quarter to go to a church function. When two players fouled out for the Lady Vikings, Vidalia was left with only four players for the final 3:47.

It didn’t much matter. The Lady Trojans already led 58-39 at that point and the game

hadn’t been close since early in the third quarter.

Despite the relatively easy win, Ferriday didn’t play well. Their stellar free-throw shooting &045; the Lady Trojans were 29 for 37 from the line as a team &045; gave them a win despite what Abron described as poor play inside and too many turnovers.

&uot;I’m happy we managed to win, but I’m not pleased with the way we played,&uot; Abron said.

Vidalia was called for 21 fouls in the contest, something that visibly upset Lady Vikings head coach Damus Smith, who declined to comment after the game.

Jameca Garrison led Ferriday with 25 points. Andrea Bennett and Kimberly Yearby both had 13 to lead the Lady Vikings.

In a game that was back and forth much of the way, Block went forth in the fourth.

The Lady Bears outscored Sicily Island 20-11 in the final period to take a convincing win in a game that was closer than the final score would indicate.

Sicily Island had several early leads before the Lady Bears’ offense got going in a second quarter in which they scored 20 points to take a 26-15 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers closed the gap to five points at the end of third quarter but were blown out in the fourth by the Lady Bears.

Sicily Island’s Rockel Gary led all scorers with 27 points. Ashley Green led BHS with 20.

Nick Drumgoole had another huge game for the Tigers, leading his team almost singlehandedly to victory.

Drumgoole had 25 points in a Sicily Island win over Block Saturday night at the Ferriday tournament.

By the second half, the Tigers were firmly in command of the game and used the closing minutes to give some playing time to backups.
