NATCHEZ &045; That Adams Christian defense is starting to catch some people’s attention.
The Rebels jumped on Huntington in the first half and got a little worried about complacency when the Hounds had more than 10 points before halftime. This is coming from a team that held Bowling Green to 18 points heading into the fourth quarter, so needless to say they picked it up another notch.
The Rebels claimed a 50-35 win over the Hounds Monday.
&uot;Our defense is really coming around, and it’s no secret we’re playing a lot of man,&uot; Adams head coach Kyle Smith said. &uot;We started off the game strong. Our defense is starting to set the tone for us the last couple of games. We faced a little better offensive team than we have in the past, and they took advantage of us relaxing on defense and scored some points.&uot;
The Rebels held a 10-8 lead by the end of the first quarter before they really started to pull away. In the second they out-scored Huntington 17-6 to claim a 27-14 lead at the break, and they followed that with a 15-6 edge in the third to lead 42-20 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Rebels were able to get it inside to Timmy Foster and Casey Gould, who combined to put up 23 points. The offense then found the rhythm on the outside with Dustin Case finishing with 15 points.
