Ferriday puts away Bears; Saints win

FERRIDAY, La. &045; Eric Crump and Dominique Myles combined to score 33 points to lead the Ferriday Trojans to a 59-48 win over the Newellton Bears Tuesday night.

Crump led Ferriday (16-5) with a game-high 20 points while Myles had 13 points as the Trojans methodically increased its lead throughout the first half. Ferriday led 12-7 after one quarter of play and 25-17 at halftime.

Newellton couldn’t do anything defensively against the Trojans in the second half to get a rally going to get back in the game. Even though the Bears scored 31 points in the final two quarters, the Trojans scored 34.

Trinity Episcopal 53, Centreville 39

NATCHEZ &045; Stevan Ridley scored a game-high 31 points and the Saints pulled away from a pesky Centreville team with a big fourth quarter for the 14-point win to remain undefeated in District 4-AA.

Trinity (12-4, 5-0) led 27-16 at halftime before Centreville (4-8, 1-4) cut the lead to just eight going at the end of the third quarter.

WCCA 49, Lamar Christian 21

WOODVILLE &045; Taylor Fontenot and Greg Garner led WCCA with 11 points each as the Rams remain in the hunt for the top spot in MPSA District 6-A with a convincing win over the Lions.

This game was over almost before the fans could get in their seats as WCCA (6-8, 6-1) took a 12-4 lead after one quarter of play and then took a commanding 30-7 lead at halftime.

Franklin Parish 55, Vidalia 47

VIDALIA, La. &045; Franklin Parish (3-12) outscored Vidalia 23-16 in the second quarter to take a 36-26 lead at the break and increased its lead to 12 at the end of the third quarter.

Compton Cotton led the Patriots with 14 points.

Ramon Harris and Ken Johnson led Vidalia (8-11) with 10 points each.

Port Gibson 59, Wilkinson County 45

PORT GIBSON &045; The Blue Waves ran out to a 29-22 halftime advantage and didn’t look back, getting a solid win over the Wildcats.

Fulton Collins led Wilkinson with 12 points.
