LORMAN &045; Southern may be the early favorite, but there’s one thing about the rest of the conference the Alcorn Braves really like.

It’s so even that anything is there for the taking.

And that’s giving Southern credit for their 5-1 start heading into this weekend. Both the Jaguars and the Braves head to Alabama for a road swing with Alcorn going to Alabama A&M today and Alabama State Monday with the Jaguars playing the opposite schedule.

The Braves are in the middle of that massive logjam with spots two through eight having records of 3-2, 3-3 or 2-3.

&uot;We’ve just got to go over there and play with some heart,&uot; sophomore forward Juan Wyatt said. &uot;We know what to expect &045; we’ll face tough competition. We’ll have to take what we did in practice to the game. We’ve got to be patient, do everything right and we’ve got to execute.&uot;

There’s not much separating those seven teams in the stat column, although everyone else is the least of the Braves’ worries right now. They head into today’s game against the Bulldogs looking to put everything together for 40 minutes and do it repetitively.

The Braves (3-3, 4-13) are coming off a conference win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday but have not won consecutive conference games yet this season. They lead the conference in turnovers with 337 (19.8 per game) but are tied for second in assists with 188 (11.2 per game).
