VIDALIA, La. &045; The parents of a 1-year-old who died in a mobile home fire in December were arrested for negligent homicide Tuesday.
Tyrone Davis, 34, and Tamika S. Turner, 24, both of 113 Gillespie St., walked into the Vidalia Police Department Tuesday morning where they were met with warrants for their arrest.
Captain Frank Webb said the couple had just returned from Tennessee.
The child died inside a mobile home on Dale’s Alley on Dec. 13 in the early morning hours. The fire was contained to the bedroom where the child was sleeping, Fire Chief Jack Langston said at the time.
The parents were outside the home when the fire occurred, Langston said.
Webb said VPD first waited on the final report from the fire marshal and autopsy reports before getting a warrant for Davis and Turner.
A 3-year-old girl was rescued from the home by firefighters.
Davis has been transferred to the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility and is being held on $400 bond. Turner is at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office jail.
