NATCHEZ &045;&045; A month and a day after the Shell station in Washington was robbed at gunpoint six people with connections to the case are in the custody of the Adams County Sheriffs Office.

ACSO deputies made the final arrest Friday morning when they cornered suspect Kendell Shorts at his Kenny Graves Apartments residence. Shorts, who was found hiding behind a dresser, joins Lonnie Brown, 20, 2245 Davis Hill Road, Roxie, and Kendall Byrd, 18, 631 Maple St., who face armed robbery charges.

Shorts and Brown are suspected of entering the Shell station on Jan. 17 with covered faces and taking an undetermined amount of beer, cigarettes and cash from the register. The clerk was not injured.

Byrd is suspected of driving the get-away vehicle, Sheriff Ronny Brown said.

Byrd is currently being held at the Natchez Police Department on unrelated charges of contempt of court for disturbing the peace and malicious mischief. He will be transported to the ACSO jail soon.

Brown was arrested last Wednesday by Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies at his Roxie home.

Also arrested Friday in connection with the case were Tasha Hunt, LaTasha Yerby and a 16-year-old female who were at the Kenny Graves Apartments residence with Shorts. They are charged with accessory after the fact to armed robbery and harboring a fugitive.

Ronny Brown said tips from the community helped investigators find the suspects.

&uot;We spent a 100 hours working on this,&uot; Brown said. &uot;We felt so strongly about it because two guys just walked into a store with a gun, we can’t have that.&uot;

Brown said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.

No bond has been set for those arrested.

The armed robbery was the first one in the county in recent months.
