Lady Vikings pound Vicksburg; MHS rolls

VICKSBURG &045; Christy Corley pitched a one-hitter as the Vidalia Lady Vikings rolled to a 12-0 win over the Vicksburg Missy Gators in three innings Friday afternoon at the Warren Central Tournament.

Corley, a senior pitcher, struck out five of the 11 hitters she faced and walked just one batter for the Lady Vikings (6-4-1), who will face the winner of the Warren Central-Rayville game at 12:45 p.m. today.

&uot;She had command of everything,&uot; Vidalia head coach Gary Paul Parnham said. &uot;We came out hitting the ball real well.&uot;

Monterey 12, Avoyelles 0

MOREAUVILLE, La. &045; The Monterey offense pounded on Avoyelles pitcher Danielle Gremillion, but that wasn’t even the best part.

Lady Wolves’ pitcher Whitney Price threw a perfect game and struck out 10 in Monterey’s 12-0 victory.

&uot;She did a great job,&uot; Monterey coach Hazel Brallier said. &uot;She’s been pitching real well. We won four games at Lafayette last week, and she only gave up four hits in the whole tournament.&uot;
