Monterey takes out Franklin Parish

MONTEREY, La. &045; It was slow going for both teams in the early innings of Monterey’s win over Franklin Parish, but the Lady Wolves got enough from their offense as the game wound down to get the 4-0 win Tuesday night.

&uot;It took a while, but we got the win,&uot; Monterey coach Hazel Brallier said.

Monterey’s Kathy Kennedy singled home Heather Robertson in the fourth inning to put the Lady Wolves on the board. Monterey got another run in the fifth inning when Whitney Roark singled and later scored on a hit by Whitney Price to put the Wolves up 2-0 with an inning left to play.

Price shut out Franklin Parish for seven innings in the game to get the win.

Parklane 13, Huntington 0

FERRIDAY, La. &045; Huntington found it tough to get much of anything going against Parklane, who found it all too easy. The Lady Hounds dropped their season opener against the Lady Pioneers.

Parklane scored three in the second inning, but really opened things up with a seven-run fourth inning that put the Lady Pioneers up 10-0 and all but sealed the victory.

Parklane added three more in the fifth and took the win in a shortened game.

The Lady Pioneers had 15 hits in the game. Etheridge led Parklane with three hits, a triple and three driven in.

The Lady Hounds got just two hits in the game, singles by Jessie Lee and Lacey Willard.
