AMITE, La. &045; Oak Forest clubbed two homers early, and that may have just set Corey Walker off Friday.

After that the hard-throwing right-hander gave up just two hits, settled down and kept the Yellow Jackets quiet while the Adams Christian Rebels scored eight in the fifth to take a 15-2 win over OFA Friday night in five innings.

Walker, who earned his first decision in two weeks, allowed just five hits in the contest and went all five.

&uot;Corey bowed up,&uot; Adams head coach Gill Morris said. &uot;Corey pitched the best game he’s pitched this year. He had them down the rest of the game. After those back-to-back jacks, he gave up only two hits. We’ve been working a lot on Corey’s mechanics, and tonight hopefully something clicked. I was pleased.&uot;

Walker’s pitching and the defense behind him &045; along with timely hits &045; were all paramount in the Rebels’ third win this season over the Yellow Jackets. Adams didn’t commit an error, pounded out 10 hits and got a huge home run from Timmy Foster in the fourth to break the game open.

The Rebels (11-2) went up 5-0 in the second before the Yellow Jackets got solo homers from Matt Poirrier and Toby Easterly. Then Easterly came in the third and struck out the side to grab the momentum, but Walker did his part on the mound and the Rebels got a two-run homer from Foster in the fourth off Easterly, a Bossier Parish Community College signee.

Then they rung up eight in the fifth.

&uot;They got those two home runs and kind of got the momentum back,&uot; Morris said. &uot;Easterly is a good pitcher. He’s got a good fastball, and his curveball is a quick curve and tough to pick up. I told the guys before the game it’s time we showed we can hit good pitching. It ought to be a challenge to face somebody who’ll play at the next level, and we stepped up.&uot;

The Rebels got two in the first inning as David New doubled in Cole Bradford and Foster. They got three in the second as Dustin Case scored on an error, Brian Smith scored when David Trisler walked with the bases loaded and Ray Simpson scored when New walked with them still loaded.

TALLULAH, La. &045; So much for a team that wasn’t supposed to beat people with its bats.

Huntington’s Hounds came back with a 19-4 win over Tallulah Academy after dropping its first District 7-A contest Tuesday to Franklin. This time the Hounds (5-1, 11-5) pounded out 20 hits, didn’t commit an error and posted a 10-run sixth en route to the six-inning win.

&uot;I can’t remember a Huntington team having 20 hits in a game,&uot; Hounds head coach Mitch Ashmore said. &uot;We started out the first inning and jumped on them pretty good.

&uot;We knew we could swing the bat against them, and that’s kind of what we did. Our kids came up big with some extra-base hits that got us going. We just moved the ball around, put the ball in play and swung the bats well.&uot;

The Hounds got some key runs in the first three innings with two in the first and second and one in the third to take a 5-4 lead. Their big inning came in the fourth with four runs, and they followed it with 10 in the sixth.

Chad Thomas, Huston Eliser and Mike Ferguson had doubles for the Hounds.

Trey Keith started for the Hounds and went three before Ashmore brought in lefty Trey Brashier to finish it out.

WOODVILLE &045; The Rams couldn’t have broken the game open any earlier as their 11-run first inning set the tone for a three-inning District 6-A win.

While the Saints had trouble with pitching and defense &045; nine errors, nine walks and two hit batsmen &045; the Rams got some key hits early to drive in runs. Spike Deville doubled in Taylor Fontenot and Jack Maxwell, and Fontenot doubled in his second time to the plate to score Maxwell and Ruston Cado.

Deville tripled in Fontenot as the Saints committed four errors and walked four batters in the first inning. The Rams tacked on eight more in the second and one in the third to end it.

&uot;I played 21 guys on my team,&uot; WCCA head coach Ray Olive said. &uot;I played everybody I had. They all helped me today, and that was a good thing.&uot;
