A spokesman for the 155th Brigade Combat team in Iraq says members of the Mississippi National Guard unit are making an impact on the power structure of insurgents there.

As we approach the second anniversary of the start of the Iraq war, it is heartening to know that local soldiers are having an impact on the progress of the situation.

No one knows when our troops will be able to come home, and the separation has been very hard on the soldiers and their families. But the work they are doing is bringing freedom to a country that has lived too long without it.

According to the Associated Press, the 155th has been busy:

4This week, the 155th captured 65 suspected insurgents in a raid conducted with Iraqi forces in the town of Haswah, about 20 miles south of Baghdad, the spokesman said.

4In February, the unit uncovered a weapons cache that included 1,500 rounds of small arms ammunition, a surface-to-air missile, rocket propelled grenades and dozens of mortar rounds.

We are proud of the 155th and of all of the soldiers who have served in Iraq over the past two years &045; and we continue praying for their safe return.
