NATCHEZ &045; It involves fantasy and high-packed action, but this trilogy’s title will not be disclosed until it’s shown Saturday at the city Auditorium for the Fantasy Film spectacular.
Natchez resident Mark LaFrancis decided to use his love for the blockbuster trilogy to help with the community. He and another loyal fan
Nancy McFarland of Natchez’s
Junior Auxiliary chapter, to produce the film festival.
&uot;We’re obsessed with that wonderful trilogy,&uot; McFarland said.
The all-day fund-raiser for the Sunshine Shelter for Abused and Neglected Children will include a costume contest, silent auction, food and beverages, door prizes and showings of all three films.
&uot;Sunshine Shelter is such a worthy cause,&uot; McFarland said. &uot;It’s a safe haven for the children.&uot;
Due to copyright laws, the trilogy’s title can’t be announced, but the curious can call LaFrancis or other event organizers to find out.
The first viewing of the extended version of the trilogy begins at 9:30 a.m., with the last episode to show at 5:45 p.m. Volunteers from JA and Jefferson Street United Methodist Church will prepare food and work shifts. Audiences will be stamped for all-day admission.
McFarland and LaFrancis aren’t the only ones excited about the freshman event. &uot;We’re always looking for fundraisers, so we were thrilled,&uot; said Matilda Stephens, Sunshine Shelter executive director.
The not-for-profit shelter relies heavily on federal grants and community donations. &uot;We hope not only for donations for the shelter, but we want people to come out and take advantage of the inside air conditioning and to spend time with the family,&uot; Stephens said.
When
it comes to attendance, &uot;I’ll be ecstatic if we get 400. My enthusiasm will not be contained if we get 600,&uot; LaFrancis said.
Admission will be $10 pre-purchased or $12 at the door. Sponsor tables on floor level can be purchased for $100. Call (601) 446-6570 or visit the www.sunshineshelter.org Web site for details.
