VIDALIA &045; Vidalia Police have a prime suspect in last week’s armed robbery at Cash Express on Carter Street.

Police Chief Billy Hammers said crime scene investigators were able to identify a fingerprint on the business’s glass door that has led them to a known suspect.

The robber entered the business last Thursday between 2 and 3 p.m. and reportedly took $700, Hammers said.

One employee was in the building, but was not injured. The suspect carried a gun during the crime.

Investigators have been working on the case since then and Hammers said work will continue until an arrest has been made.

The armed robbery came three days after a carjacking was reported on Wilson Road. The driver was not injured in the 3 a.m. incident and the car was later found wrecked off of Louisiana 131. Hammers said Monday that investigations into the carjacking were ongoing and that police were getting close to a suspect.
