Chief: Police make break in car break-ins

NATCHEZ &045; An arrest has been made in connection with a streak of recent car burglaries in the Westover Heights and Montebello area.

Geordy Steven Hall, 20, is charged with four counts of burglary of an automobile and more charges may be coming, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

The burglaries started several weeks ago and all involved unlocked cars. Items including clothes, CDs and jewelry were taken.

The Natchez Police Department has been investigating the cases and responded to a call at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday that led to the arrest.

&uot;A lady on John Glenn Avenue was going to work and saw a person inside her vehicle,&uot; Mullins said. &uot;She ran and called the police.&uot;

NPD and Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and saw Hall running into his nearby residence.

There have been roughly 10 car burglaries in the area in recent weeks, Mullins said.

&uot;We anticipate more charges and feel he’s connected to the others,&uot; he said.

Hall admitted to authorities that he has a substance abuse problem, Mullins said.

Officers are currently working to recover the stolen property, though none has been found yet. No bond has been set.
