NATCHEZ &045; Kole Hill was solid on the mound for Laurel and ended the summer for the Brookhaven All-Stars at the Dixie Youth 11-year-old state tournament at Duncan Park.
&uot;That’s how baseball goes&uot;
Brookhaven head coach Mike Durr

Folks
at Ballew-Bowlin
field witnessed a great pitching duel from Laurel and Brookhaven
All Stars.
In the top of
second,
Laurel’s Pitcher
Kole Hill and third baseman Daris Dace scored the only two runs in the rest of the match up for Laurel.
Both teams remained locked in a close ball game all the way. The two runs in the second stood up for Laurel as the only offense it needed.
&uot;I was kind of nervous, but my dad said don’t worry and throw strikes,&uot; Hill said.
That’s what he did. Hill fanned four in three innings of work to help his team seal the win.
Throughout the game Brookhaven had opportunities to make a comeback and win the game.
&uot;We battled plenty of times,&uot; Durr said. &uot;Opportunities open and closed. That’s how baseball goes&uot;.
After Laurel’s two scores in the top of the second, Laurel
held Brookhaven to only two hits in the rest of the 3 1/2 innings.
&uot;Kole was a big plus,&uot; Laurel coach Kevin Ulmer said.
Laurel will advance to play Petal at 6 p.m. today at Carroll-Jones as two of the final four teams left in the tournament.
