Gibson spoke with Blue Cross representatives this week.

Those in need of medical attention in the Natchez-Adams County area who are customers of Blue Cross/Blue Shield need only to call the number on the back of their health insurance card or one of the following numbers to receive approval:

Blue Cross/Blue Shield Louisiana – 225-2953307 or 225-291-5370

Toll-free call center for Blue Cross – 800-257-5825

Humana

Humana Inc. said health benefits and customer service for its Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama members affected by Hurricane Katrina are in force and will continue without interruption.

The company said it is suspending until further notice its usual 30-day restriction on early prescription refills for all commercial and Medicare members in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama as a special service to members in areas affected by the hurricane.

Humana members needing benefits assistance can call the 800 number on the back of their Humana identification card, or Humana’s customer service representatives at 1-866-427-7478.

Others

Customers of other health insurance providers should call the designated number on the back of their health insurance provider card to make arrangements for out of network care.
