BASTROP, La. &045; Trinity Episcopal’s Stevan Ridley had his best game since the first game of the season, accounting for 272 yards of total offense and all four of the team’s touchdowns.

Ridley’s two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, and a defense that held Prairie View to fewer than 200 yards of total offense, helped the Saints defeat the Spartans 25-6 Friday night.

&uot;It was a sloppily played game,&uot; Saints head coach David King said. &uot;We’re still trying to work on some things. We had a few letdowns.&uot;

Both of Ridley’s touchdown passes went to Kris Ford &045; a 32-yarder with 4:02 to go in the first quarter and a 37-yarder with 9:50 to go in the third quarter.

Ridley and Parker Brumfield combined for 113 yards on a combined 7-of-15 passing.

&uot;Offensively, we moved the ball well,&uot; Saints head coach David King said. &uot;We were able to throw the ball with some consistency, which opened up some running lanes.&uot;

Indeed it was the running game of Trinity (3-1) that Prairie View (1-4) could not stop or even slow down &045; especially Ridley, who had 203 yards rushing and touchdown runs of 45 and 80 yards.

While the Spartans were able to run the ball well &045; 154 yards on the ground &045; they threw for just 35 yards. However, they were able to avoid being shut out when Joseph Smith scored on a 1-yard run with 4:50 to go in the game.

Parklane 38, Centreville 6

CENTREVILLE &045; Parklane running back/kicker Les Mulkey had a hand and a leg in 24 of the team’s 38 points as the Pioneers easily defeated the Tigers on the road.

Parklane (2-0) was playing its first game in three weeks due to Hurricane Katrina, but showed no signs of it against a young Centreville team.

Mulkey made three field goals, including one from 52 yards out &045; one of the longest field goals made that any school in this area has seen in quite some time. He also had touchdown runs of 10 and three yards and made three of four extra points.

Parklane also scored on a safety in the first quarter when Centreville (1-3) snapped the ball out of the end zone as the Pioneers built a 25-0 halftime lead.

The Pioneers added to their lead in the third quarter when Ben Wall threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to John Lazruth and Wall scored on a 5-yard run.

With Parklane’s second-team defense in the game in the fourth quarter, Centreville made sure it would not be shut out as Jeffrey DeLee scored on a 55-yard run with 3:38 remaining.

Brookhaven 29, WCCA 7

BROOKHAVEN &045; The Rams played good football team against a good Class AA Cougars team and led 7-6 at halftime.

But the second half was all Brookhaven Academy as the Cougars scored the final 23 points of the game to take the win.

Offensively, the Cougars had a nearly two-to-one advantage over the Rams in total yards and didn’t have to punt the ball even once in the game.

T-Boy Lynch scored on a pair of touchdown runs in the third quarter to help the Cougars (3-1) retake control of the game.

After Paul Davis scored from nine yards out midway through the first quarter, the first of his two touchdown runs, the Rams (1-3) took the lead on Chris Gann’s 8-yard run and Colin Dore”s extra point with just 49 seconds to go until halftime.
