Keith Benoist told members of the Convention and Visitors Bureau board Wednesday that plans are still under way for a kayak race next month.

The Phatwater Kayak Race will be Oct. 8-9, starting in Port Gibson and ending at Natchez Under-the-Hill.

The CVB board volunteered to help with several projects related to the event.

Other matters discussed at the meeting included these:

4The board approved the proposed 2005-2006 budget for the Natchez Convention Promotion Commission.

4The board also approved asking Britton & Koontz Bank to renew a line of credit and increase it from $75,000 to $100,000.

4Explored ideas for raising funds from private, city and state sources to increase advertising potential.

4Heard from Tammi Gardner of the Downtown Development Association about a trip to Sweden to meet with tourism officials there. &uot;The main goal is to help tourism both ways,&uot; she said. &uot;We made some great contacts.&uot;
