Natchez &8212; County and Economic Development Authority officials are on a mission.
This week, a delegation from Adams County is in Washington seeking the support of members of Congress for the location of a new industry near Natchez.
Darryl Grennell, president of the Adams County Board of Supervisors, said by phone Tuesday the prospect &8212; and congressional support for it &8212; looks promising.
&8220;We think it looks very good,&8221; Grennell said.
He added that representatives of the prospect in question are set to meet with supervisors Nov. 8 and should be ready to make some kind of announcement later that day.
Grennell wouldn&8217;t divulge any further details about the prospect but did say the company is located in Illinois.
Given that fact, Grennell, EDA Chairman Woody Allen and supervisors attorney Bob Latham met with U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., as well as Mississippi&8217;s delegation regarding the deal.
Others with which the three were scheduled to meet during the trip included U.S. Reps. Roger Wicker, R-1st District; Bennie Thompson, D-2nd District and Charles W. &8220;Chip&8221; Pickering, R-3rd District, all of Mississippi; and Sens. Thad Cochran and Trent Lott, both R-Miss.
Grennell would not say what specific types of support the county and EDA are seeking from the federal government to help see the deal.
The trio arrived in Washington Monday and are set to return later this week.
