Elmo L. Reeves

May 17, 1926-Oct. 23, 2005

EVA, La. &8212; Services for Elmo L. Reeves, 79, of Monterey, who died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, in Ferriday, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eva Church of God with the Revs. Lloyd Trisler, Marion Trisler Jr. and Kevin Sims officiating.

Burial will follow in Hedrick Cemetery in Eva under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Reeves was born May 17, 1926, in Mayna, the son of Thomas E. and Frances T. Reeves.

He was a lifelong resident of Monterey and a member of Eva Church of God. He was a farmer and a former member of the Concordia Parish Police Jury, on which he served for 14 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He served in the European Theater Campaign under General Patton in the Third Army.

Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Hedrick Reeves, and one grandson, Lee Dale Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Dale and her husband, Lee, and Janice Henry and her husband, Larry, all of Monterey; one son, Charles Reeves of Natchez; four sisters, Ole V. Napier of Laurel, Carolyn Pecanty of New Era, Barbara Commerdale of Picayune and Mary Holley of Crowley; three grandchildren, John Brigman and Darrell Brigman, both of Monterey, and Brian Dale and his wife, Nikki, both of Lafayette; and one great-grandchild, Coley Dale.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Ratcliff, James Paul, Kenneth Hedrick, Reggie Aswell, Donnie White and Brian Dale.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Blaney, Thomas Newman and Jack Aswell.

FERRIDAY, La. &8212; Services for Alvirdie Woodson, 99, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at her residence, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ferriday United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Gary Howington officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodson Cemetery in DeVille, La., under the direction of Young&8217;s Funeral Home of Ferriday.
