NHS clubs drop pair to Gators

VICKSBURG &8212; Vicksburg High&8217;s inside presence made all the difference Thursday night in a 77-42 win over Natchez High.
In addition to Rachel Jenkins&8217; 29 points, Taylor Ammons netted 12 and Kristin Ellis scored 10 as the Missy Gators pulled away in the second half.
The Missy Gators led 33-27 at halftime, but outscored the Lady Bulldogs 17-8 in the third quarter and 27-7 in the final quarter.
Ke&8217;Airra Jones scored nine points to lead Natchez.
The Missy Gators are scheduled to play Wingfield for the Coca-Cola Classic championship at 1 p.m. Saturday at Warren Central.
Vicksburg 82, Natchez boys 71
Brandon Harper scored 30 points and Jonathan Phelps netted 23 as the Vicksburg Gators advanced to the Coca-Cola Classic championship game with a win over Natchez.
The Bulldogs will now play Warren Central on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Vicksburg High for the consolation prize.
Vicksburg (3-0) held a 42-28 lead with seconds ticking away in the first half when Phelps nailed a halfcourt shot to send the Gators into halftime with a 17-point advantage.
Vicksburg increased the lead to as many as 24 in the second half before Natchez made a charge. Several times the Bulldogs were able to get the lead down to 14, but never under double digits.
A Michael Chatman 3-pointer at the buzzer put the final margin of defeat at 11.
Jeremy Houston scored 20 points for Natchez, while Kenny Robinson scored 17 and Cameron Logan netted 15.
Adams Christian 45, WCCA 29
WOODVILLE &8212; The Rebels (1-1) led 12-11 after one but took a 25-18 lead at
half and 36-24 advantage after three. Luke Brumfield led AC with 17, while Eli Ashley had 12 for the Rams (0-2).
Tensas Academy 54, Franklin 42
ST. JOSEPH, La. &8212; Tensas (1-1) led 40-34 after three at the Tensas Academy Shootout.
Cody Hill and Jim White led the Chiefs with 13 apiece.
Tensas Academy girls 62, Franklin 15
ST. JOSEPH, La. &8212; Tabitha Howard led Tensas with 209 points. Aubrey McEacharn had 17.
Adams Christian girls 68, WCCA 14
WOODVILLE &8212; The Lady Rebels motored out to a 22-1 lead at the end of the first.
Brittany Gamberi and Ariana DeLaSalle led AC with 10 apiece. Emma Benton and Erin Whitaker each had four to lead WCCA.
