ferriday &8212; Ask a group of children what their favorite part of a Christmas parade is, and you&8217;re liable to get at least a dozen yelled-out answers.

&8220;Santa Claus!&8221; yelled out one little girl.

&8220;The band!&8221; yelled another.

&8220;The horses!&8221;

&8220;Getting candy!&8221;

Even Jessica Dollar, a Ferriday mother and one of several adults who accompanied the children to Saturday&8217;s Ferriday Christmas parade, had a ready answer. &8220;For me, it&8217;s seeing the children enjoy the parade,&8221; Dollar said.

And with all the above attractions and floats galore, it would seem the annual parade down E.E. Wallace Boulevard had something for everyone.

There was the Concordia Parish Sheriff&8217;s Office train, decorated as a sleigh with decorated train cars

being pulled behind it and Christmas-themed soul music blaring from the speakers.

There were several churches with floats decorated in a &8220;Peace on Earth&8221; theme, including a couple that tied in a hippie-type theme and even a &8220;Let the Sun Shine In&8221; dance routine.

The Town of Ferriday chose a more traditional theme, with everything from a sketch of the baby Jesus to a cardboard fireplace complete with stockings. And several members of the River City Bad Boyz classic car group drove their jazzed-up entries in the parade, with one even spinning his wheels for the crowd.

There was only one complaint, and that from a joking Al Ater, Louisiana secretary of state and a Ferriday native. &8220;They ought to speed up,&8221; Ater told the crowd. &8220;I&8217;m eating too much (candy). &8230; I&8217;ve eaten about as much as I&8217;ve thrown.&8221;

Keswani Bryscoe, who was at the parade with grandmother Sharon Byrd, said her favorites were the Ferriday High School band at the JROTC group. Byrd herself admitted her favorite part was seeing grandson and two of her nephews on the Head Start float.

But her last answer might have been the best of all. &8220;I just like it all,&8221; she said.
