PHOENIX – Five members of a family, including three children, were killed in a car wreck Thursday morning in south Scottsdale, police said.
A pickup ran a red light and collided with a sedan carrying eight members of a family, Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said.
Antonio Pedraza-Olivares, 30, and his wife, Noelia Robolledo-Sanchez, 36, were killed with their 4-year-old son, Antonio.
The couple’s 12-year-old daughter, Ariana, was in stable condition, and their 7-year-old daughter, Abigail, was in critical condition Thursday night.
Also killed were the couple’s two nieces, Jennifer, 7, and Myra, 11. The girls’ mother, Guadalupe Pedraza, 25, had been driving the car and was listed in stable condition.
The driver of the pickup, Robert Miers, 25, of Chandler, was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and later released.
Clark said impairment or speed didn’t appear to be factors in the crash. Police had not yet determined whether any criminal charges or citations would be issued.
