MCCOMB &8212; Just two days after everyone associated with Cathedral had learned that Blase Patrick Gaud/ had passed away, there were a pair of soccer games to be played &8212; on the road.
The Lady Green Wave would have loved nothing more than to win one for their coach, Blase&8217;s brother David Gaud/m Tuesday night. Instead, the Lady Tigers rallied with five goals in the second half for a 6-4 win.
&8220;We started off pretty hot. We scored three times in the first 25 minutes.&8221; Gaud/ said. &8220;We had a 4-1 lead at halftime. We had an excellent first half and they were fired up in the second half. We came out flat. The long Christmas break took its toll.&8221;
Niara Crimiel scored four of McComb&8217;s five goals in the second half after Cathedral led 4-1 at halftime. The other goal came courtesy of Alana Malone, who played each of the last two years for Cathedral.
The Lady Wave got two goals in the first half from Kalin Kirkwood, another from Kate Ellard and another when the ball bounced off a McComb player into the goal off a corner kick. That put the lead at 4-0 before Crimiel scored with a minute left in the half.

MCCOMB &8212; John O&8217;Beirne had two goals, including the tiebreaking goal in the second half, and Eric Hollowell had a goal and an assist as the Green Wave improved to 5-4 with a hard-fought win over the Tigers.
&8220;The defense was excellent,&8221; Rick Freeman said. &8220;They weren&8217;t getting any good shots on goal. The offense was real patient and took what they give us. We played ball control. When it opened up we took advantage of it.&8221;
O&8217;Beirne scored on an assist from Hollowell. Hollowell then put the game on ice when he scored on an assist on a nice cross pass by Taylor Brantley.
O&8217;Beirne scored on an assist by Robert Mahoney in the first half. McComb&8217;s Stewart Adel scored the Tigers&8217; only goal of the game to make it 1-1 at halftime.
