FERRIDAY &8212; Give Antonio Jordan a phonebooth and a cape. He&8217;s Superman.

Jordan put his skills on display Friday night, jumpstarting a sluggish Huntington squad with inspired defensive play, to lead the Hounds (15-1) to a 57-38 victory over Tensas Academy.

Jordan scored 15 points, but he filled the stat sheet with 24 rebounds, seven blocks, six steals, three defensive charges in a performance that may have reminded some of another guy named Jordan.

&8220;That&8217;s every night,&8221; Huntington coach David Boydstun said. &8220;We know what we&8217;re going to get from him every night &8212; his best game. He&8217;s going to be steady and play hard. He&8217;s a pleasure to coach.&8221;

Jordan&8217;s defensive prowess and boundless energy &8212; he leaped out of bounds several times for loose balls &8212; allowed him to dominate the game, despite shooting only a handful of shots.

His shot-blocking ability made the Chiefs reluctant to drive to the basket, and his steals led to fastbreak opportunities for his teammates.

And those 24 rebounds prevented Tensas from getting many second-chance opportunities.

&8220;That&8217;s not a big deal,&8221; Jordan said. &8220;Just estimate where the ball is going and jump. I have an advantage, because most people can&8217;t jump with me.&8221;

Huntington used its trademark fullcourt press all night, but Tensas (8-8) handled the pressure well in the first three quarters.

Huntington needed more than five minutes to score its first field goal, as the Chiefs jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

Huntington never wavered with its fullcourt pressure, although Boydstun switched to a halfcourt trap instead of a passive 2-3 zone when Tensas moved into the frontcourt in the second half.

The Hounds led just 30-26 at halftime and 40-35 with 7:05 to play.

With Tensas having just eight players in uniform and the deeper Huntington squad pressing constantly, the Chiefs finally wilted in the fourth quarter.

&8220;We got tired late in the game and got careless with the basketball,&8221; Tensas coach Britt Keahey said. &8220;We did a good job through about the first three quarters. Their depth hurt us.&8221;

The Huntington lead grew to double-digits midway through the fourth quarter, and the Hounds ended the game with a 12-0 run to make it a blowout.

&8220;It&8217;s just constant pressure. Sooner or later, that&8217;s going to wear them down,&8221; Boydstun said.

Zack Brown added 14 points for Huntington, and Brant Bradley had 12. Jim white led Tensas with 11 points.
