NATCHEZ &8212; Four-legged entries that haven&8217;t registered with Monday&8217;s Martin Luther King Jr. parade won&8217;t be allowed to ride, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
In the past some riders have joined the route without being a part of a registered horse club.
&8220;We&8217;ve had problems in the past with unauthorized riders,&8221; Mullins said. &8220;Officers will be in the area when the horses unload checking to see if they are approved by the committee.&8221;
Any riders that aren&8217;t registered will be issued a citation, he said.
Parade organizer Katie Ruth Moore said interested participants can register with her up until Monday morning, by calling 601-445-5957.
The annual parade will start at 2:30 p.m. Participants will line up at 1:30 p.m.
The route starts on Franklin Street and continues north to Martin Luther King Jr. Street and will end on Minor Street.
This year&8217;s theme is &8220;Looking back, never going back,&8221; Moore said.
The MLK banquet will be Sunday at 7 p.m. and the NAPAC luncheon will be Monday at 11 a.m.
