FERRIDAY &8212; Three members of Ferriday High&8217;s football team put their names on the dotted line Wednesday during National Signing Day.
Defensive tackle Darius Cain (6-2, 250) signed to play for head coach Johnny Thomas and the Alcorn State Braves.
&8220;They liked him,&8221; Trojans head coach James McFarland said. &8220;That was the thing that we liked. He took his visit there, and he liked the campus.&8221;
Two of Cain&8217;s teammates, linebacker/fullback Montago Tennessee (5-11, 220) and linebacker Demetrius White (6-0, 220) signed with Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Grambling State and head coach Melvin Spears.
Oddly enough, Alcorn State and Southern University talked with the Ferriday coaching staff about Tennessee and Cain, but didn&8217;t send or offer them anything.
&8220;We just wanted an opportunity for (Tennessee) to continue his college education and play football,&8221; McFarland said. &8220;Coach Spears liked both at linebacker.&8221;
