NATCHEZ &8212; Musicians appreciate the enthusiastic &8220;Encore! Encore!&8221; they receive at the end of a performance.

So the good cooks who also are musicians at First Presbyterian Church knew exactly what to do when they heard the cry for more of their baked delicacies.

Saturday, the musician-cooks will present a Valentine&8217;s Day bake sale, 9 a.m. to noon in the fellowship hall, corner of South Pearl and State streets.

&8220;We had our first bake sale the first Saturday in December,&8221; said Becky M. Jones, music director and choirmaster at the church. &8220;People said, &8216;you&8217;ve just got to do this again.&8217;&8221;

The foods won loud praise from the buyers at the first bake sale. So, too, did the way the goods were presented &8212; colorful wrapping and containers, tags that contained not just the name of the cake, bread or candy, but also a list of ingredients.

&8220;It was what you would call an upscale bake sale,&8221; said Pam McNeil, a choir member who contributed to the sale.

Jeanie Lanneau, organist, agreed.

&8220;It was not just a normal bake sale. The display was beautiful; the containers were pretty.&8221;

Tables once again will be decorated, this time with the Valentine&8217;s Day theme, Jones said.

Some of the sweets to be sold are Snicker Bar Fudge, Double Chocolate Cashew Tarts, Pecan Turtle Tarts, Meringue Kisses, Gingerbread Lips, Tunnel of Fudge Cake &8212; and even some healthy breads such as Heart Healthy Muffins and Whole Wheat Bran Muffins.

&8220;We hope people will come and buy for their Valentines,&8221; Jones said.

Proceeds from the two sales will go to purchase choir robes and to enhance the music program in other ways, she said.

&8220;I believe we&8217;ll raise enough money on the two sales to buy the robes,&8221; she said. &8220;Tell everybody to come early and stay late.&8221;
