Trials set for three murder suspects

VIDALIA &8212; Seventh Judicial Circuit Judge Leo Boothe set trial dates Wednesday for three defendants relating to the April 5 murder of Richard Cupstid of Vidalia.

Jason Short, 30, 167 Burl Roberts Road, Vidalia; Francis Loncar, 35, 303 Cottage Drive, Natchez and Ginger Campbell, 110 Park Drive, Vidalia will be tried individually, Boothe said.

Loncar and Short face charges of second-degree murder and Campbell a charge of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

Loncar&8217;s trial date was set for April 24; indigent defender Derrick Carson will represent him.

Short, represented by Rodney Messina, will be tried May 22; Campbell will go before a jury March 27. Ann Siddall will represent her.

Also Tuesday, trials of motions in the dog fighting cases involving Amber Wallace and Joshua White were reset for March 15 because their attorney was unable to be present Wednesday.

Bart Schneider, who has the same attorney as White and Wallace, also had his arraignment hearing on a dog fighting charge reset for March 15.

The three were arrested in connection to an August raid on a Monterey house that netted 43 fighting dogs, training equipment and drugs.

White, 6083 Georgia 93, North Cotton, GA and Wallace, 4627 Louisiana 565, Monterey, were arrested during the raid.

Schneider, 4637 Louisiana 565, Jonesville, fled the scene and spent nearly three months in hiding before turning himself in.
