LORMAN &8212; Alcorn State point guard Alleo Frazier carries the same simple checklist into every game:
4Coordinate the offense.
4Play good defense.
4Keep his teammates happy.
Frazier added another duty to his to-do list on Saturday night: Score.
Frazier tallied a career-high 19 points and added five assists to lead Alcorn to a 78-61 victory over Mississippi Valley State. Frazier finished 7-of-8 from the field and 2-for-2 from 3-point range.
&8220;Tonight, I just couldn&8217;t miss,&8221; he said. &8220;I think I only missed one shot, and that was a post move late in the game. Tonight was just my night.&8221;
Added Alcorn coach Sam West, &8220;&8220;I was really pleased with Alleo&8217;s effort tonight. He really shot the ball well.&8221;
The same could be said for the Alcorn&8217;s entire roster.
The Braves (6-6, 6-16) shot a season-best 57.7 percent, while holding Valley to 38.3 percent shooting.
Delvin Thompson and Juan Wyatt added 17 points apiece, and Clif Douglass scored 14 point. Alcorn&8217;s four double-digit scorers combined to make 26-of-39 shots.
Alcorn has now won two straight &8212; the Braves&8217; second winning streak of the season &8212; and improved to .500 inSWAC play. Valley (6-15, 6-6) lost its fifth straight game.
Alcorn built Alcorn made nine of its first 10 shots and jumped out to a 22-6 lead, but Valley responded by methodically chipping away at the lead.
Alcorn ended the first half with an 8-0 run &8212; punctuated by Frazier&8217;s 3-pointer with six seconds to play &8212; to build a 41-26 lead at intermission.
The Braves used a 9-1 run to push the lead to 23, at 54-31, with 14:32 to play, and Valley never got closer than 14 the rest of the way.
&8220;We just kept the pressure on them, and coach would tell us in every timeout to keep that lead,&8221; Frazier said.
