Truck accident kills Ferriday man

MONTEREY &8212; A Ferriday man was killed Saturday morning when his truck left Louisiana 565 and struck a tree.
Clark Burrill Jr., 52, of 490 Lincoln Road, Apt. 18 in Ferriday, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened just after 6 a.m. on the highway near Monterey.
According to State Police reports, Burrill was driving his 1991 Chevrolet pickup northboard on Louisiana 565 at the time of the accident.
He crossed the center line and veered off the left side of the roadway, traveling 78 feet before hitting a tree.
Burrill was ejected from the vehicle and was lying just outside the passenger side door when authorities arrived, the report stated.
Results of alcohol tests are still pending.
Services for Burrill, owner of Burrill Drilling and Explorion, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Oswalt Cemetery, with burial following under the direction of Young&8217;s Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Burrill&8217;s family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
