NATCHEZ &8212;As of Friday the search for a new county administrator will be extended to the public.
The board of supervisors has been accepting applications from county employees since current administrator Charlie Brown announced his retirement.
&8220;We sent a notice to all departments to determine if there were any county employees interested in the job,&8221; Brown said.
&8220;We have not gotten any applications from anyone in the county.&8221;

The administrator duties include the daily tasks of handling the majority of the financial matters of the county, preparing the annual budget reviews and trying to control the expenditures of every department, Brown said.
All payroll matters of the county go through the administrator, arranging financing to fund various project and equipment purchases and insurance matters of the county are also part of the job.
Brown&8217;s retirement from the position is effective June 1. He has held the job for 17 years.
Supervisors president Darryl Grennell has said the county may continue to use Brown for part time work in the future if needed.
