NATCHEZ &8212; A planning committee recruiting employers to July&8217;s Great River Regional Job Fair, feels this fair could be the first of its kind.
Joe Buckner, director of the Governor&8217;s Job Fair Network, said the fair &8212; from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., July 11 &8212; has the potential to be one of the best job fairs ever for the area.
&8220;If we can get the word out and find employers with real job opportunities to sign up, this job fair will really be an outstanding event,&8221; Bucknell said. &8220;The history for job fairs in this area is really good.&8221;
The fair will be held in the Natchez Convention Center and will offer the opportunity for job seekers and employers to meet face to face, Bucknell said.
The registration fee for the event is $125 for a boot (table, display area and two chairs), which includes two hot lunches and refreshments throughout the day.
&8220;This one is unique because Louisiana is involved,&8221; said Concordia Economic and Industrial Development District Director Teresa Dennis. &8220;A community collaboration and planning committee has been formed in advance to get everything ironed out to offer the best job fair possible.&8221;
Bucknell said the job market was wide open and there are plenty of good paying jobs out there.
&8220;This will be a legitimate job fair and will have a lot of jobs and a lot of people,&8221; Bucknell said. &8220;The idea is to get the word out to applicants.&8221;
