Vidalia &8212; Drive-in movies, classic cars, and tire burnouts are only a part of this years Cruising on the River benefit activities.

Bad Boyz Car Club Inc. of the Miss-Lou will hold their yearly car show benefiting local charities at noon on Friday. Registration lasting from noon until 4 p.m. at Vidalia&8217;s Comfort Suites will kick off the weekend.

At 5:30 p.m. the action begins with a cruise to Ferriday where car shows participants will hold a burnout. Burnouts give spectators the chance to watch cars sit still while tires are spinning creating clouds of tire smoke, event coordinator Roger McDonald said.

&8220;It&8217;s where they pull up let everyone get out of the way, apply their brakes, and rev up the engine,&8221; McDonald said. &8220;You really get a chance to see how much horsepower these engines have, and the person that creates the most smoke and pops a tire is usually the winner.&8221;

During the burn out participants will also get the chance to visit the Delta Music Museum in Ferriday.

After the tires are burned and the museum tours have run their course, everyone will return back to Vidalia Riverfront for drive-in movies beginning around 8 p.m. After the movies, DJ Bobby Derrick will play music until people &8220;wear out,&8221; McDonald said.

&8220;They usually like this event because they can sit by the river and watch the boats go by during the car show,&8221; McDonald said. &8220;It&8217;s better than other car shows because you&8217;re not just sitting in some hot parking lot looking at cars. You got the river.&8221;

Registration will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, with a Natchez scavenger hunt and Derrick playing music all day.

&8220;We will give the people a list of questions that have to be answered in Natchez,&8221; McDonald said. &8220;They just get to drive around to try to find answers and whoever gets the most right wins.&8221;

Saturday night a street karaoke on the riverfront will take place, followed by some &8220;mystery performances.&8221; McDonald said.

&8220;We got some surprise entertainers that will be showing up,&8221; McDonald said. &8220;I don&8217;t want to tell who they are just yet because it will give away the surprise.

Awards ranging from best overall car to ladies&8217; choice of winning car will be given at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Comfort Suites in Vidalia.

The event hopes to draw cars and people from all over and will offer raffles for a 1955 Chevy Pedal Car, 350 Crate Engine, and T-shirts among other prizes.

&8220;This event is growing a lot each year because people feel this is a really good place to come,&8221; McDonald said. &8220;They just really enjoy the southern hospitality.&8221;
