NATCHEZ &8212; A benefit ranking atop a list of priorities for many will start tonight at 5:30 on the riverfront in Vidalia.
Relay for Life will hold its 11th annual fundraiser and offer events and food that will be sure to exceed all expectations, relay Coordinator Roy Smith said.
&8220;We got all kind of food and games that will be fun,&8221; Smith said. &8220;If you come down there and leave hungry, either there&8217;s something wrong with you, or you didn&8217;t ask.&8221;
Smith said people come from five states to take part in the benefit and observe to learn how the event is supposed to be done.
Last year some 5,000 people attended the event, and the goal this year is to exceed those numbers, relay committee member Julia Drews said.
&8220;This is a way of honoring and remembering those affected and hopefully this year we will raise more money than we ever have,&8221; Drews said.
The relay will begin with entertainment continuing throughout the night with different games and music. A luminary service honoring and remembering victims of cancer will take place at 9 p.m.
Members of Team Daisy will be shaving their heads around midnight.
The event will continue until 6 a.m. Saturday morning with a presentation of team awards.
